Radiesse Filler for Aging Hands

aging handsJust when you thought you’d heard it all, now you can use fillers in your hands! That’s right, if you aren’t happy with your aging hands and the “veiny” appearance they display, you can now give your hands a more youthful look.

Using a filler such as Radiesse, you can receive injections under the skin of your hands, camouflaging the veins that cause the appearance of aging hands. While it’s not permanent, Radiesse can last up to 2 years in these circumstances.

Before and after Radiesse is injected into the back of the hands to cover veins and give a more youthful appearance.

As with any treatment, there are risks. If filler is injected into the skin and accidentally finds its way into a blood vessel, it can clot off the blood vessel leading to death of the overlying skin. While the skin may eventually heal, it’s very scary for the patient and at the very least, a nuisance in wound care. One technique to avoid injecting Radiesse or any filler into a blood vessel is by using a blunt needle or cannula.

There are several manufacturers of blunt cannulas but here’s the bottom line: a needle/cannula without a sharp tip that’s used to inject the filler is less likely to puncture a blood vessel and inject filler where it shouldn’t be. You may be asking yourself, if the needle isn’t sharp, how do you get it through the skin? The doctor simply punctures the skin with a sharp needle first so that the blunt cannula/needle can get through and perform the procedure. Another benefit of using a blunt cannula is reduced bruising! Blunt cannulas can be used when injecting fillers into the face as well, so be sure and ask your doctor to use a blunt cannula whenever you need fillers.
